Building the future now – next energy code standards
At Revolution Homes we are already building homes to the energy code of the future. Our homes are high efficiency, and meet forward thinking requirements to exceed the average, current testing and materials for building products. Whether it’s thicker walls or a higher insulation values, the quality of a Revolution Home starts with what you don’t see behind the walls.
As technology changes, so do the options and features for a smart, efficient home. We will explore the best technology solutions for you during our Configuration Phase.
Building High Performance (Green)
High Performance (Green) Building at Revolution Homes means that the construction and design of your home will create less impact on our climate and natural environment, as well as reduce these impacts in the operation of your home.
During our 5C Process, we will review and deliver the best ways for building green. These ways include:
In addition, as part of our overall process, Revolution Homes reviews and incorporates the following:
Because Green Building is also unique to the area it is located in, Revolution Homes looks to build the best custom home suited to your needs.
Incorporating Universal Design
Universal design includes both accessible and barrier-free housing design features, as well as utilize products that are customized for individual assistance and function.
Several principles were developed as guidelines because the incorporation of universal design in residential building is only about 10-15 years old.
Revolution Homes uses this framework to create useful, flexible, practical and intuitive living spaces.
Including the HERS
The Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index is the nationally recognized, industry standard that is used to measure a home’s energy efficiency. This system is also used for inspecting and calculating a home’s energy performance.
Having a HERS rating for your house tells you how efficient your home is operating, and where you can find areas to increase energy savings. Overall, a HERS rating will help you anticipate the costs of energy bills and efficiency upgrades.
The U.S. Department of Energy established that a typical resale home has a score around 130 on the HERS Index, while a standard new home is awarded a rating of 100. By adding more energy efficient options, you can have your home rated lower. The lower the number, the more energy efficient the home. Therefore, a home with a HERS Index Score of 70 is 30% more energy efficient than a standard new home.
The average HERS rating of a Revolution Home is 62 which is 38% more efficient than other New Homes.
